May 2023 Skillselect Round Data

The May SkillSelect round for 2023 saw a total of 7427 invitations issued, of which only 74 were in the Subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional (Family Sponsored) visa category. The balance went to Subclass 189 Skilled Independent visa applicants.

The minimum points score for both subclasses was only 65 points, though applicants for the 491 visa category typically needed to score much higher to secure one of the few invitations this round. Scores of 85, 90, and even 100 points were reflected in Immigration's data.

There continues to be a clear focus on health and education occupations, with Registered Nurses across various specialisations still in high demand. Early Childhood, Secondary School, and Special Needs Teachers also received invitations, with most only requiring a minimum 65 points.
