Religious Worker Visas

Visa Criteria

• Sponsorship by a religious organisation in Australia. If there is a written agreement in place regarding sponsorship between the organisation and DIMIA, it must be shown that the position to be filled by the applicant is specified, and that the applicant will occupy this position while in Australia;
• The religious organisation provides a written undertaking:
  • to meet all of the applicant's travel expenses to a foreign country upon the earlier of the expiry of the visa or the sponsorship;
  • not to seek to recover from the applicant any money spent by the organisation in relation to the applicant's travel to or from Australia, or in relation to financial support of the applicant in Australia.

Duration and Conditions

The primary applicant must not cease employment with the sponsoring organisation during the period of the visa.
