Reminder - Market Rate Salaries Apply to all 457 Holders from 1 January 2010

by Mark Webster, Acacia Immigration Australia, 8 January 2010

Market rate salaries have been applicable to all new 457 visa applications since 14 September 2009.

People who held 457 visas on the 14th of September did not need to be paid at the market rate and were subject to a transitional period. This transitional period ceased on the 1st of January 2010. You can view more information on the changes at: http://www.acacia-au.com/457-market-rate.php

We recommend that all 457 sponsors conduct an audit to ensure that your 457 visa holders are being paid at the market rate to ensure that you are compliant with the new requirements.

Note that permanent employer sponsored options such as ENS and RSMS are not subject to market rate salaries.

Feel free to contact us if you need advice on your obligations under the 457 visa program, or if you would like to discuss moving employees onto permanent visas.
