The NSW State Government has made changes to its list of occupations for state nomination.

People nominated by the NSW government are able to apply for the permanent State Nominated Subclass 190 visa or the 4-year provisional subclass 489 Skilled Regional visa.

Changes to Skilled Nominated Subclass 190 List for NSW

Two occupations were removed from the Subclass 190 occupations list for NSW - Aeronautical engineer and Agricultural engineer. There are now 131 occupations on the subclass 190 list - this includes the following types of occupation:
  • Engineers
  • Accountants
  • Hotel Managers
  • IT Professionals
  • Financial Investment Advisors and Insurance Brokers
  • Architects, Surveyors and Urban/Regional Planners
  • Engineers
  • Teachers
  • University Lecturers
  • Medical Practitioners
  • Nurses
  • Allied Health Professionals
  • Lawyers
  • Psychologists
  • Construction trades
  • Automotive Trades

Changes to Regional Subclass 489 List for NSW

The Orana region has rejoined the regional sponsorship program and a number of new occupatiosn have been added to the subclass 489 list, including:
  • Agricultural scientists and engineers
  • Aeronautical engineers
  • Hotel Managers
  • Accountants
  • Sonographers, Chiropractors and Osteopaths
  • Radiologists and Radiation Oncologists
  • Lawyers
  • Fitter & Turners

Processing Time Update

Since the new NSW state nomination list was announced in October 2012, there have been a much larger than normal number of applications lodged for state nomination. Processing time for NSW state nomination is now approximately 10 weeks.
