The Minister for Skills and Workforce Participation and Minister for Regional and Rural Development the Hon Jacinta Allan MP, has announced the Victorian Government's support for the Federal Government's commitment to increase Australia's skilled migrant intake by 31,000 migrants. Jacinta Allan has launched a program to help newly arrived business and skilled migrants to quickly find work and identify commercial opportunities when they arrive in Victoria. The seminars are part of a Post Arrival Services Program for which the Victorian Government had allocated $700,000 over the next four years. Furthermore, Victoria's skilled migration eligibility lists have been updated. These lists detail occupations that are eligible for visa sponsorship from the Victorian Government. There will now be three eligibility lists for different visa classes:

  • Skilled - Sponsored (subclass 176)
  • Skilled - Sponsored (subclass 886)
  • Skilled - Regional Sponsored (subclass 475 and 487)

Key changes include the addition of 36 additional occupations for the Skilled Sponsored (subclass 176) visa, including Architect, Surveyor, Mechanical Engineer, Accountant and a number of Trade occupations. The occupation of Pre-Primary School Teacher/Kindergarten Teacher has been removed. In addition, Jacinta Allan has announced a network of regional partnerships that will assist skilled and business migrants to access employment opportunities in provincial Victoria. Services and support will provide assistance including information about employment opportunities and occupational language; work preparation training; and post-employment support. Finally, Victoria is working hard in the United Kingdom to attract health and community professionals as well as finance professionals to Victoria. For further information, please Contact Us
